I have a problem with Sony generated media.
Let’s say I have two files (A.veg, B.veg) with Sony Text and Sony Solid Color where both media have the same number. E.g.:

    Sony Text 100
    Sony Solid Color 101

    Here’s the problem:

    Open A.veg.
    Text says “Hello”
Open B.veg (R-click, drag, Open Project)
    Text says “Hello”
Text should say “world” (this is the bug)

    Solution:

    Open A.veg
    Text says “Hello”
    Close A.veg (File Close)
Open B.veg (R-click, drag, Open Project)
Text says “world” (as it should)

This happens with other media … Solid Color 101 retains the value in A.veg if B.veg is opened while Vegas has A.veg opened. If A.veg is closed first, then B.veg shows the correct value.

Now create P.veg and nest A.veg and B.veg. When P is played or rendered, everything works as expected; i.e., you see “Hello” followed by “world” with the right colors.

Seems like Vegas is trying to save steps and it is holding onto the same instance of an object in memory when it sees that the next file (to open) has the same generated media ### in it.

My workaround is to always Close these “pre-built” files before opening the next one.

Is this a bug in Vegas 8.x?
Or is it present in 9.x?

    Thanks.

I cannot reproduce this behavior with Vegas Pro 9.0e. I open a.veg and Sony Text 1 says “Hello” and then I right+click and drag and select Open Project and b.veg opens up and Sony Text 1 says “World”.

OK, good to know. Must be a bug in 8.x. Bad thing is … if I save … I get the “new” version of the Sony Media event. Hope this remains “fixed” when 10.x releases. Thanks John.
