Recently edited Sony FS7 footage natively in Premiere. I didn’t notice it too much when editing because it’s hard to see with Log footage, but when exporting ProRes files for the colorist, he noticed significant banding issues after applying a grade to the footage. We did some tests out of Catalyst + not only was the footage milkier/desaturated/had banding issues out of Premiere, but the footage looked significantly better in Catalyst in addition to not having any banding issues.

Would like to not have to transcode Sony FS7 footage in the future, but has anyone else encountered this? Haven’t tested transcoding in Resolve yet either.

[Elizabeth Perlman] ” but when exporting ProRes files for the colorist,”

Can you export it to any other format besides ProRes? DNxHD in a OP1a container perhaps?
