After a recent shoot ended I downloaded all the BPAV file folders to my laptop from a coworkers Sony EX1. For some reason I thought I could just drop those MP4 native files right on the timeline in Vegas (8c) but could not. So I then converted them all to MXF format using EDCAM and that took a long time. The MXF files then were dropped on the timeline without a hitch except building the peaks was also time consuming. It had been a while since working with these native files and I could not recall if there was an easier way to do this.

Any EX1 users out there who can she some light on the proper work flow? Thanks as always….

In Vegas Pro 8.0 the files have to be wrapped in MXF. Vegas Pro 9.0 can work with the files natively. IMHO, the proper workflow is to purchase Vegas Pro 9.0 and work with the native files.

Thanks John I have the trial version downloaded but not installed. My rule is to never jump on the upgrade bandwagon until most of the bugs have been worked out. All of those files have been transcoded to the MXF format already but I thought when I did this way back when I did not have to…was wrong of course. Thanks again I think I will wait a while longer before making the upgrade.
