i tried to download the ss sony cards plugged into the slot, and nothing showed up on the screen, only a power off card option on the upper right corner next to the internet connection symbol. restart and still nothing. I note is that i used my mbp with successfull workflow with the panasonic P2 system. now, i cannot read the sony cards…any thoughts? thanks

    Hi Jorge,

The following list contains the minimum requirements needed to edit native EX footage with Final Cut Pro:

    Mac OS v.10.4.11
    Quicktime Pro v.7.3.1
Final Cut Pro v.6.0.2 (part of Final Cut Studio 2)
Sony Clip Browser v.1.0 – not required to import and edit in FCP but still important to have.
Sony Transfer Tool v.2.1 and/or Sony’s Log and Transfer plugin for FCP.
Sony FAM driver – this is what is needed for your Macbook Pro to recognize an SxS Pro memory card as an attached device and have it appear on your desktop.

Besides not being able to get that link to work on the Sony site – it enters an infinite loop, the site states that the driver is no good for any macbook pro purchased after October 2008.
It states there will be a new driver issued in December 2008 but I cannot find that driver – has it bee issued?

[Paul Burgess] “It states there will be a new driver issued in December 2008 but I cannot find that driver – has it bee issued?”

Yes it has. It’s available at the Canada Sony web site. Below the Mac version of the SxS Pro driver it clearly states that: “The new Macbook Pro released after October 2008 is supported.”

    Here you go:
