Sony DVD Architect 16:9 film showing as 4:3 with black bars and squashed up
Hi this is my first post, I am currently doing a film internship and this is regarding a project I am working on.
The footage was exported from Avid as a .mov file. It plays back as 16:9 in quicktime (and file info says so) but in DVD Architect it plays as 4:3 with black bars either side and squashed up. The project is all set up as widescreen and the footage as 16:9 PAL.
Very frustrated, any ideas?

General answer/things to check. I don’t use that program.
Make sure that the dvd player and the TV are set up correctly. Sounds like the video is going to a 16:9 TV but the player is set for a 4:3 TV.
Also check with Architect to make sure the video asset is set to display as 16:9. A DVD can have 4:3 or 16:9 assets within the same project.

It is all set up correctly, I have however come across what may be the problem
(From DVD Architect release notes)
– 16:9 Full Height Anamorphic (FHA) QuickTime files do not render as anamorphicLooks like this could be the problem, does anyone know a solution or workaround?

Unfortunately material needs to be rendered for DVD Architect in Vegas as WideScreen Sony DVD Architect material. Not sure what the process is doing but it works. The process splits the video and audio into separate assets too from memory. Regards Mike
