Sony DV/Cineform codec conflict in project?

You didn’t say how well the project plays with just CineForm footage on the timeline. Perhaps it’s an issue with the CineForm codec? There are several versions of the codec and not all of them work with Vegas Pro 12.0.

if either DV or Cineform footage are on the timeline, they play full speed on Best(Full), cineform version is 2.0.1.319, if both formats are on the timeline, even if the events are muted, Vegas would hang during playback.

Well if thats the situation, no workaround is gonna make Cineform
behave any better. So converting them into another format then
dropping them in Vegas is one solution.
Or you can try download and install the free GoPro Studio Edit Software
which includes an updated Cineform Codec, and see if things behave better.

I guess conversion is probably the more realistic solution, but I’ll try the updated codec to see if it works. Initially I thought it was the Panasonic DV codec causing the problem but it wasn’t, anyway thanks Steve,

I can have DV and CineForm AVI files on the timeline in Vegas Pro 12.0 Build 770 without any problems at all. It doesn’t matter which one I add first, the other always works. I’m using the CineForm codec that comes with NeoScene HD 5.6.2. I have no other GoPro software on my system.

John, nice to know one version of the Cineform codec that works with DV, Neoscene HD doesn’t seem to be around anymore, do you know if there is a place to download your particular version? Thanks,

Unfortunately not and it’s a shame how CineForm was so close with Sony and now it’s so shaky. Mine is an old version that I bought just before GoPro bought them. I would contact Go Pro and ask them what version of CineForm that they currently sell is compatible with Vegas Pro 12.0 and have them help you.

You might want to try uninstalling the Panasonic DV codec. Vegas Pro doesn’t need it and there is a 50/50 chance that it’s the problem as well.

I’ve tried uninstalling the Panasonic DV codec and it seems to have no effect on the issue, I use this codec in Virtualdub for encoding, I’ll try the Cineform codec in the latest GoPro Studio and see how that goes, thanks for the tip John,
