Sony DSR570WS firewire output
Will I be able to batch capture footage from a Sony DSR570WS DVCAM camcorder via it’s firewire port? I’m using FCP5 on a G4 laptop.

Yes. Outputing the tape from the camcorder into FCP (FCP can control the playback) will work fine.
But, many high-end camcorders will NOT RECORD FROM the FCP timeline.
Not sure if this one will, but probably not.
