I recently bought a Sony DCR-SR42 to edit short film on my Final Cut 5.1. I am able to import video into my FCP, but am having difficulty getting any audio. Can anybody help me? What’s the best way to use this camera with FCP? I bought this camera because the guy who I bought it from said it worked well with FCP. It’s still early and I could trade it in for another camera. My limit is $1000. Any comments or advise as to whether I have got one of the best for my price range, or is there better?

    Thank you.

The camera shoots in MPEG-2. This is delivery format, not a production format. Your best bet probably will be converting the material to DV using MPEG Streamclip.

    All the best,
