  • Sony BVM-1910?

I have read many times that the Sony PVM-20L5/1 is the most desirable monitor for HD color correction…and that they are no longer being manufactured.

My question is this- would a Sony BVM-1910 serve as a decent monitor for CC work? The specs claim 900 lines of rez (vs. 800 for PVM-20L5). I would be sending the signal via component outs on a Kona 2.

Any input or advice is appreciated.

According to the specs I just read, it’s an SD monitor only. If you’re working in HD, you need an HD monitor. You can get the 14″ PVML5/1. We have that in our second suite and if you need something bigger for your client, you can add a secondary monitor for them.

The BVM series is actually a higher quality line than the PVM series. I’ve only found the 1910 as a used monitor.

Thanks guys- I was hoping that you would be the ones to answer my question. We just happened to have a BVM-1910 sitting around, etc.

    Thanks again.

they’re selling for about $2,500 on up at the Broadcast Store used, so maybe you might want to sell it and use that towards a newer HD monitor.
