Sony Bravia Ad – 70,000 litres of paint

Just saw this ad and spent about ten minutes thinking “Wow, their particle system must be really good” and then found out it’s all for real!
Just shows what money can buy. All it really needs is Samuel L Jackson walking through the middle of it 🙂

October 18, 2006 at 10:31 amI can’t see how ALL of that was real paint, some definitely – rent the land of a council estate that’s about to be knocked down for a day, fair enough.
But some of that close up stuff didn’t even look real, some of it must be VFX, no?
Very impressive though, don’t get me wrong!

October 18, 2006 at 10:47 amNo its all straight video, no particle systems involved. Whilst the scope of the production is impressive, i still much prefer the older bravia add with the coloured bouncy balls shot in san fransisco.

Yepp. But it must have taken them ages to roto out all the plastic barrels and other disturbing objects. On could argue about the originality, but I think it’s still a lot better than many other ads you see on TV. What personally irritates me is the poor choice of music. The other spot was much more innovative and contemporary in that respect.

October 18, 2006 at 10:39 pmYep, I think it’s a pity they chose that classic. Just for the fun of it I decided to re-edit it with Beethoven, which is also “vulgar”, but much more apropiate imho: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_Pmu82PxIM&eurl=
I wanted to open a new thread, but it fits here quite well, as it handles exactly the opposite topic: A Dove ad about manipulation of beauty. Not really AE related, but I found it verrry interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00nhKwv4M5Q

That’s a depressing ad, not wanting to turn this post into a rant, but it’s little wonder we’re all screwed up.

October 20, 2006 at 12:49 pmYes, but the spoof of the Bravia San Francisco commercial is hilarious. If you haven’t seen it, it’s here…
