April 2, 2014 at 1:51 pm[Dave Osbun] “Here’s to hoping for an updated compatibility list of graphics cards (both nVidia and Radeon) for accelerated rendering via GPU.”
That would be great.
I hope Sony’s aggressively trying to match and out perform Adobe with their list of updates for Premiere.

April 4, 2014 at 2:41 amI am working in a broadcast environment and there is one thing that is HELL. I cannot export SV12 session to Protools. My clients demand this. AAFs dont work as they should. There is also no OMF option. I am really thinking of switching to a different NLE although I love Vegas.
Just too much pressure from the broadcast industry.
I dont understand why Sony Creative Software have ignored this issue for so long. If SV13 doesnt have these features improved, I am giving up.

April 4, 2014 at 5:03 am“Rent” is too mild a term, albeit fundamentally accurate. I think we agreed on “Ransomware” here. That’s what I’m calling it.

Yes, the reason we call it “ransomware” is because it stops working if you stop paying instead of letting you keep the last version that you paid for. So if you fall on hard times and can’t pay, your times just got even harder because you also can’t work because your tools stopped working. No business person in their right might would agree to held for ransom like this.
All Adobe has to do is say that you can continue to use the last version you bought without future updates if you can’t afford to pay and I would be 100% OK with what they are doing. I just can’t allow a company to have that much control over my ability to conduct business.
Such a simple solution…. such s stupid company.

April 5, 2014 at 10:14 am[tommy perez] “any word on the vasst/sony after party this year?”
There isn’t going to be one or else you would have heard about it already. It was a good run but it’s not happening this year. 🙁

April 5, 2014 at 12:26 pmThat’s to bad, was always my favorite event of the year. See you at the show.lookimg forward to seeing the new vegas. I work for a company that keeps mocking me for using vegas and not switching to adobe. I’ve been with vegas since beta and I don’t plan on switching now.:)
