    I am sure some of you are already aware of this, but here is a link to news and photos of Sony’s newest Alpha DSLR enabled for video. Scroll down to the bottom for a look at the camera and the ‘big lens’ accessory. Maybe in prototype stage, but surely just around the corner. You just knew Sony had to enter the game, and that’s a good thing.

    You know, considering a camera is essentially a sensor with a lens and some electronics, I’m surprised there aren’t more like this (I saw some at NAB, but they were pricey). I would love something designed with 3rd-party extension in mind – just the sensor and lens setup, the rest is up to whatever provider wants to put another app on. They do it with most everything already. I’d love to see a more “hack friendly” device – let the users worry about what to do with it, just provide the means to do it. Maybe this is a step in that direction (whether intended or not).
