Song Vegas 7.0 Platinum Audio Problem
Posted by Helor Tong on January 21, 2007 at 10:37 pmWhen I import a song and drag it to the Music section everything seems fine. Then, when I press play, I don’t hear anything. I checked to see that the song wasn’t on mute and I can see the track in the Music section. Can anyone tell me what’s wrong?

January 22, 2007 at 12:10 amYes, I do see the levels on the mixer. The song that I’ve used is in the format of .wma, and I checked to see that Sony Vegas supports that format.

January 22, 2007 at 1:21 amYou are hearing other sounds output from your computer, and your Vegas audio device is set in prefs?

January 22, 2007 at 2:24 amNo, I don’t hear other sounds, but I don’t know if the audio device is set in prefs. Basically it’s almost like someone muted the song… when I press play I see everything functioning perfectly but the song isn’t playing.

January 22, 2007 at 6:27 pmAre you able to hear .wav files or the natural audio from the camera etc?
If so you may be having a problem with the imported wma file. I just went through a 2 day experience with Vegas and wma files. I could hear mine but they fell in and out of sync while playing and also “wowed” with audible pitch changes. Sony confirmed some systems have problems with wma files.
If you can hear other types of files try converting (rendering) your wma file to a wav file. Thats what I did and everything was fine -

January 22, 2007 at 7:23 pmAh, it seems like I have trusted the right person to run to help for. I put a .mp3 song into the music section and it played! However, I do not know how to convert the .wma to something else. Could you help me with that?

January 23, 2007 at 2:47 amYou should be able to do it in any audio editor program simply open and the “save as” as wav file. You can also do it in Vegas by going to “render as” and select windows PCM wav.

January 24, 2007 at 11:15 pmDoes that also work if I’m trying to convert video too? My video is in .amv format, and none of it will play in the video section, only in the “Voice” box. How can I easily convert my video clips?

February 19, 2007 at 9:08 pmYou had a post stating that you can save in Sony Vegas 7 as a PCM wav file. That is not true in 7.0. It will only save as an .ac3 when rendering a DVD and no other option exists for wav which is highly disturbing. If you do know a way to do it, I would love to know.
Thanks,
