[TImothy Auld] “If that’s the way it works for you then great. It would not be easier for me.”

Fair enough. May I ask why?

Stereo is a phasing illusion. I need mono tracks. Until I’m ready for them to be otherwise. Also, I need to easily be able to layer audio. And in X it just ain’t easy.

[Simon Ubsdell] “”The promo was cut on Apple FCP X and graded on Adobe SpeedGrade.”

    That’s just weird.”

Maybe they shot raw and used SG for conversion and grading…

[TImothy Auld] “tereo is a phasing illusion. I need mono tracks. Until I’m ready for them to be otherwise. “

Well, like any other NLE you can cut with mono sources, but yeah, no track panning so point taken.

[TImothy Auld] “Also, I need to easily be able to layer audio. And in X it just ain’t easy.”

We’ll have to agree to disagree on this point. The ease and precision of cutting audio/sound design is one of my favorite things about X.

Yes, without question, we disagree about that.

Like most clips, nobody would have any idea what that video was cut in unless they were told.

[tony west] “Explain how you could tell.”

    < begin sarcasm >
It was a music video. Barely a step above youtube cat videos and perfectly suited for FCP X. Until a feature film or major network dramatic series edited by someone we’ve heard of with lots of American or British IMDB credits cuts something with FCP X, preferably accompanied by a press release, FCP X remains useless. Except, you know, to the 8 or 10 people in the world (all of whom post here) who use it.
    < end sarcasm >
