I’m not 100% sure about this, but DVCPR HD 720p probably is non-square HD just like 1080i DVCPROHD is

    Cheers Erik,

So does that mean that in essence 1280×720 does not exist on DVC PRO HD, simply, FCP is resizing it to be 1280×720 on output????

    Thanks for the swift reply.

    Zee.

That’s the way the formats compression works.

    All the best,

It is anamorphically compressed. It takes the 960×720 (which is stretched vertically) and converts that to 1280×720 by stretching it horizontally.

    This is all normal.

It’s basically like PAL SD-fotage is 720×576 “native square” but actaully plays back at 768×576, or anamophic PAL which is the same 720×576 resolution, but plays back at 1024×576 pixles.
