    The VP83 seems to be a good sounding mic, but the pre’s in these cameras are a real mess!

    I’ve included tests with both cameras & connected directly into my laptop for comparison.

    Hello Steve and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

    Yes, the 5D Mk II has know audio problems. The 5D Mk III however can be adjusted to record audio properly when fed from a mixer.

    Open the 5D audio input control one click only from the left. Then feed the audio in through the camera input with a mixer until you see good levels on the camera meters.
