Just a related note to the purge cache solution – I’ve run into an odd problem now and then, in which Bridge will not let me add keywords or metadata to a file (could be QT, sometimes other formats – no consistency).

Once again the solution is to Purge Cache – then the file takes the keyword or metadata just fine. Seems odd to me – I did report it as a bug at some point a while back. That said, I just moved up to Bridge in CS5.5, and I haven’t tested this issue out – the problems I had were in CS4.

Yeah….the not being able to play video was really prohibiting me from digging into Bridge.

Great read!

At a previous job I started building an archive library based on Bridge Metadata.

The biggest problem I ran into was not being able to BUY bridge as a stand alone product for my networked producers.

Thanks for the kudos Alex – I know that you can install two copies of Adobe software, but you’re not supposed to use them at the same time. Bridge really should be available as a standalone – it’s one of the most powerful digital asset management tools out there. Maybe a request to the feature/bug page would move things along.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s a manager. you cant full on manipulate files with it.

But i agree that it’s extremely powerful and really ought to be available stand alone.
