  • some problems with the extended desktop of Decklink HD (WinXP)

    Hallo,

I have a Tyan K8WE system with dual 246 opteron 4gb of ram, NVidia Geforce 6600 GT and
    a Decklink HD card.
I have problems with the extended desktop of WinXP SP2:

    1. If I enable the /3gb switch in the boot.ini of WinXP to use more than just 2gb of RAM
in combustion4, which works great without Decklink, sometimes after startup I only
get a desktop on the Decklink HD output but not on the graphics card, whether or not
I have disabled the extended desktop. Sometimes I even have to disable the /3gb switch
to get an output of my “real” graphics card at all.
But that’s no solution for me as you need much RAM for HD with combustion or other
    programs.

    2. An extended desktop with only 720×576 on a 1920×1200 Display seams useless to me.
Even with more resolution I would not use it because it has no 2D/3D acceleration.
Because I can see the realtime output on the monitor even if I disable it in the
display settings of windows I have done so. But even if it was disabled, it sometimes
    came back.

You maybe need an explicit device-address directly in the device manager for the normal
use of the output for video.
But I want a way of disabling the extended desktop in the driver-settings or maybe even in
    the driver installation itself.
Or is there another clean way of permanently disable the extended desktop output?

    Thanks in advance
