I have searched the Forums but cannot find an answer to this problem but I am sure others must have solved it. I have a source video which is @ 30FPS MPEG-1 progressive scan. The subject is a moving Water mill paddle and the flowing stream

If I just play this file with any type of media player is works perfect and nice and smooth,,,, In order to get it into Vegas, I select a project NTSC as this is the nearest Frame rate. Leaving the default settings, if I view from the beginning and advance one frame at a time after about 4 frame the video goes back one frame and then forward again… then you can advance it quite a few frames and then the same happens. Sometimes about 4 frames are the same frame. I have tried many adjustments for Field order in the project properties and also the deinterlace methods. In the Time Line Video properties I have also tried all the Resample switches and in the Media tab the various Field Orders. I have to assume I am missing a trick here but I have tried so many variation that I hope one of you experts can give me some guidance. Thanks in advance

Have you tried setting the frame rate of the project to 30.000? What you should do is use the Match Media Settings button to make sure the project matches your media. Like this:

Hello John .. I had not tried that so I was hopefull that it would solve it but it does not seem to make any difference. The properties do show that is is set @ 30 FPS @ not interlaced.. Any other ideas thanks in advance John

If you have your project set to match the media and it still doesn’t play correctly, I would contact Sony. Something isn’t right.

    Hello John

Thanks for the information..I thought I would have one last look at this before sending a request to SONY just in case it was something silly,,,,,,and noted your comments again “match the media and it still doesn’t play correctly”. I guess as you are an expert then there must still be something I have missed and did not mentin to you… I did the match and it set the FPS correct etc, but I then noticed that as the original was NON Progressive, it still left the Project Properties > Deinterlace method set to BLEND,,, I change ths to NONE and it works perfect… Thanks again.. To be truthful I did not know that you could change the FPS by that method or even just typing into the FRAME RATE the FPS you wanted,,, I have used this program for some time….so it is never to late to ask an expert,, Regards John
