Some copied P2 media will not mount in the importer even though the files are there!
I’m shooting a low budget horror film and made the mistake of using the HVX200 with P2 cards. They have been nothing but trouble. The current problem I am having is I have copied every mounted card through the camera (Content folder and text file) to a seperate folder on a external hard drive. When I go to import them on FCP 5 some mount and some don’t. But they all have the information in the folder. What is causing this and how can I fix it? I heard you could put the files back on a P2 camera and there is a feature that can repair it. But the mounted card is set at read only and will not let me do anything. I’m using the 8gb cards and everyone’s computer I try to mount them on never works. I don’t have the P2 Store or an old Power Book to mount with. So what should I do. Thank you for any help or suggestions you can give me.

I am going through much the same thing, only in my case I’m editing a kung-fu movie. But I digress…
I ended up burning the files onto a DVD (as data) and putting that in my tower. It mounted and imported perfectly, when other methods had been tried and failed (reloading the footage to P2 cards and “repairing” the clip (sadly, the camera said there was no problem with the clip); attaching the camera via “1394 Device” to the computer and trying to use the camera as a HD; changing computers (one running the latest FCP version, the other one version back). Of course, added to my own complications was that the footage is being stored on set in a Windows machine…
At any rate, DVDs saved my butt, perhaps it will save yours as well.
