  • Some artificial edge appearing around a true-alphaed layer in compositing

Posted by Mostafa Talebi on September 21, 2011 at 6:25 pm

    hello

I have made these simple renders in autodesk Maya 2012 (Mental Ray)and saved them in png format. all the alpha and masking rules are observed during the compositing phase, and everything looks fine BUT!!!!! there is (as marked) a black edge around the spheres. WHY?
also there is no blurring applied to layer’s alpha.

    THANKS

Sounds like you need to change the alpha type from straight to premultiplied, or vice versa….

Select your footage in the project window, right click, choose “Interpret Footage–>Main…” (hotkey cmd+opt+G) then change your alpha type and see if it fixes it.
