  • Solution to greyed-out Qmaster prefs problem

After 3 days of pulling my hair out i have fixed my qmaster. This refers to the problem whereby after a crash whilst using the latest version of Compressor and qmaster from the pro apps update. It does not refer to the other ongoing problem whereby one must delete .plists after a crash.

My solution has been to reinstall FCS2. I found this bit of freeware:
    https://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcs_remover.htm

It seems to do a decent job of removing FCS2.

This has worked for me. Hope it helps others. Merry Xmas

Did you try Compressor Repair from Digital Rebellion? https://www.digitalrebellion.com/compressor_repair.htm
I use that every time Qmaster misbehaves and it’s so far worked every time.

Yeah, i have compressor repair. It fixes the general problem whereby qmaster freezes after a crash. I think all it does is delete the .plist files. I tend to do that manually.

This fix is for the problem specifically related to the latest update. compressor repair and even a complete reinstall of compressor and qmaster doesnt fix it.

Hi, whatever I do Qmaster keeps “Options for selected service” greyed out: for any combination of boxes ticked or unticked makes no difference, also doesn’t matter whether its quick cluster with services or any other option too. I have used Compressor Repair to trash prefs repeatedly, plus restarted. Software update says I am all up to date. I am on OS 10.5.8, on a 2Ghz Intel Core Duo Macbook, 2GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM.

    any ideas???

    David
