    Hello all,

just want to share a bad experience.
    I have a
    G5 QUAD
    OSX 10.4.5
    4,5Go Ram
    Decklink extreme PCIexpress
    Blackmagic Driver 5.42
    FCP 5.0.4.

Everythig seemed fine, I have a YUV monitor output, and the SDI seemed to work on the betarecorder until you try an edit to tape… and then surprise, no video output anymore, the video on the desktop seemed accelerated while printing to tape.

Off course the edit to tape fail because the video doesn’t match its TC anymore (playing faster than it is)

The solution as weird as it is, is the video desktop enable button.
Usually I always deactivate this option in the preference panel, but it seems to create this problem in FCP if not enabled.
I simply went back the Blackmagic driver 5.4 and left the enable video desktop on. Everything was good. I still don’t understand the link between the video desktop and the print to tape fonction but it seems to run fine as long as the video desktop is enabled.

Sorry for any mispelling, hope it will help the community.

I have experienced the same problem with a similar configuration. The problem is that using video desktop makes your machine unstable in OpenGL based applications, like AfterEffects and Motion.

    Hi Lars,

I doubt the issues are related. The unstable performanace (ie crashing) of OpenGL apps like Motion and Aperture should be reolsved with the OS X 10.4.4 update. Please verify this is what you’re using. If you’re still having crashes even after upgrading to the latest OS X driver, please forward the crash report to us at support[at]blackmagic-design.com

    regards
