Solid Length
I am having this problem. I made a composition and place all values for size and length. At this point everything is alright. But when I add a new solid, the solid isn’t made as the same length of the composition. So I have to drag it all the way down.
I don’t know I made myself clear.
Hope you can help.

You should be able to just grab the right edge of the solid and drag it out to the length of the comp.

It sounds like you’ve changed a Preference setting. Open the Preferences Dialog Window and then the Import section. Change the Still Footage setting to Length of Composition. As you now know, AE sees a Solid as a Still Image.

I know that Joe and Roland have already ably answered your question, but I’ll add one more option: keyboard shortcuts. Memorize as many of these as you can — they’re real time savers.
From Trim, extend, or slip-edit a layer [link]:
- Select a layer.
- Move the current-time indicator to the time at which you want to set the In point or Out point. To set the In point to the current time, press Alt+[ (Windows) or Option+[ (Mac OS). To set the Out point to the current time, press Alt+] (Windows) or Option+] (Mac OS).
