When i use Software Update I always make an “Install and keep package” so I don’t need to dowload again. But since the FC 5.1x I’m unable to reinstall those packages. I get a warning saying that I can not install from that package.
I thought I could avoid this problem dowloading the .dmg’s from the Apple web-site. After all night long downlading almost 200M (Compressor, Motion and Color), I found my self in the same situation. I can not install from the disck images.
I have trashed the “Receipts” of the updates so the system can see that I have not those updates installed, but no chance. Even if I run software updates, the updates needed do not show-up in the window.
Is anybody having the same issue?
BTW I’ve got the Apple Support ID, but don’t know how to use it. Any help?
    thanks in advance.

Sorry man. You have to totally uninstall FCP, reinstall from your disks, then redownload the updates.

    Hi Jeremy,
I’ve got that the .dmg’s from the Apple web-site works. However I do not understand that to reinstall a sigle application is necesary to reinstall the whole FCS2.
Is really stressing to try to keep a Mac updated with a 5 Kbps Internet conexion. When you have downloded 85M of the 90M Compressor 3.0.1 update and the conexion says good-bye and you have to start to download from the beguinning again..

My friend, neither do I. I had to reinstall Compressor on one of the FCS2 machines here. Well, that install broke motion. So then I had to reinstall motion, which then broke Compressor, so then I reinstalled Compressor, that broke motion. Around and around I went until I found the right combination of install and downloads and the order to run them in. It was nuts.
