To avoid wrapping the MXF files in QuickTime via the FCP import, and the additional memory required, is there software for viewing/evaluating shots once they’ve been transferred from P2 cards to a PowerBook & aux HD? I’ll be in the field for an extended period of time…

    Thanks in advance. Dan

FCP can do it, as can P2 Log Pro.

How about Avid Express Pro? MXF is a native file format for Avid. No conversion to quicktime is required, you just drag the video and audio files to your media folder and then open them in your project.

With P2 Log Pro you to just click on a P2 folder. The clips pop open in a scalable window. Nearly instantaneous.
