Hi Guys…..I am looking for a program that I can use for still pictures that is user friendly.
I need them to move forward…..back……angled…..come in sideways…..etc. Manipulating the audio is extremely important. I’ve been using Boris when I need to but I’ve seen much easier ones being used.

    Any suggestions? Thanks so much….

Why not use the Pan & Zoom effect in the Avid? Or, just use a PIP and promote it to 3d? How do you need to manipulate the audio?

Hey Jon…..thanks for the response….I was just looking for a user friendly program that I could just throw the pictures in and it does everything for you. Something a high school student could use, however I wanted it on the professional level so I could fade in and out of audio. A friend uses a consumer one that works well as far as movement of pictures…..the audio editing portion is no good.

You busted me as far as the avid goes…..I’ve been editng for the past 6 years on Discreet Edit. I have 2 systems and bought the Avid
as Edit is no longer supported. I am still learning the Avid and have only edited a few simple projects on it.

I’ll look into the pan and zoom though. I did finda tutorial on this site for getting the “Ken Burns” effect on Final Cut Pro..

I hate to say it, because I use Avid… but if this is for high school students, the easiest, quickest, and usually pretty good looking it iMovie. iMovie comes standard on any Mac, so if you already have one… or you could buy a cheap Mac and you’re all set. There is even a check box for the Ken Burns effect. You just dump in the pictures, put the music in, and tell it to arrange pictures to length of music and you’re done. iMovie is how I started. I’ve never touched Final Cut though.

I utilize FinalCut whenever I do a slideshow. It gives me great control over the photos to give soft pans and zooms. Scanning photos at 200dpi so I can zoom in on poorly composed pictures and crop them myself.

However this is by no means a quick and easy process, doing a 70 photo slideshow generally takes me anywhere between 4-8 hours depending on how creative and picky I am feeling that day.
