Software for FCPX Assistant (pr)Editor
Hey all –
The producer of a documentary is hiring an assistant ‘preditor’ to help him review and organize the footage being shot. As editor, of course I want this information to transfer directly into FCPX so I can hit the ground running. I looked at Lumberjack but that looks as if you need to start the process during the shoot? All of the previews and organization for my project will start after each shoot day. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Have them log in FCPX and then….

I haven’t used Lumberjack, but it looks really cool.
Is there any reason you can’t use Lumberjack not in real time? I.e. use it on playback as if they’re on set? Maybe not if it uses global timecode somehow.

Lumberjack can also log the material after the shoot — it’s called “Backlogger”: https://lumberjacksystem.com/backlogger.html
However Noah’s suggestion of MergeX is also good.
