    software for encoding everything? (on both platforms?)

    I have found multiple posts recommending compression software for certain applications but none asking for general compression software that has the capability to compress to many different formats. Also I am not platform specific jumping between a mac and a pc.
    So the two questions are: which compression software should I fork out for should I be needing to output wmv, mpg, mp4, mov and anything else that might go on the web or CD? Also is this program available on both platforms? If not then is there a comparible product for the other platform?

    PC = ProCoder/Carbon coder
    Mac = Compression Master

    A few years ago the answer would have been Cleaner from Discreet but you can give that a wide miss nowadays.
