Can I remove the hardware codec and install the software codec, without issues, if using 100i v8.1.1?
Does the software codec decrease render times in “export” or just in 3rd party programs?

    Thanks……Al

[Al Clarke] “Does the software codec decrease render times in “export” or just in 3rd party programs?”

Only in 3rd party programs. But if you export “by reference” you can convert to other formats quickly e.g. with QuickTime player Pro or AE.
You should not have any problem when installing the software codec with V8.1.1. But just in case, “park” the hardware codec somewhere. If you have problems, move it back to the QuickTime folder, and you should be in the configuration as you were before.

Thanks for the info – just very quickly if I want to do very simple networking from one machine to another – is there a preferred setting to export the timeline?
    Thanks again………Al

Export as “Self Contained” from Media 100. Very quick (compared to a QuickTime Export) and without recompressing the image; full quality is kept.
