Having recently graduated with a Bachelor’s in Film Production, and having some spare graduation cash, I was wondering what 3D animation programs would be a good investment in order to spice up a new demo reel? Any suggestions?

    Hi,

If you are really interested in 3D work, then you would probably want to get 3DMax, Maya, Lightwave, Softimage or maybe Cinema 4D. Each has it’s plus and minuses. I believe 3Dmax is probably the most used, then Maya, Sofimage, etc. Cinema 4D isn’t as deep as the rest, but some say it’s easier to use, and probably cheaper?

Within AE you can do quite a bit with Zaxwerks Invigorator. You can get some really great looking stuff with shapes and text.

    Good Luck,
