  • SOFTBODIES & XPRESSO – Deforming a Mesh Using A Cloner

    Hi

I’m trying to figure out the best way to connect the point’s of an object to the points/index of a cloner to create fast softbody deformations with proxy geo

For example, imagine I have a sphere with clones attached to each vertex. If I set the dynamics to “Softbody Made of Clones”, the clones fall with connections holding them together. How do I make these individual clone positions deform the mesh of the sphere?

I’ve attached a scene file which sort of does what I need, just not with a cloner sadly

    Would massively appreciate any advice!

If I understand correctly what you are attempting, then you will need two versions of the mesh.
One version that is static (and hidden) to use as the attachment object for the cloner and a copy that is ‘morphed’ by the clone positions using XPresso.
    Here’s a quick setup I made:

    This is perfect!

    Thanks Sam 🙂
