So I am really new to FCP and I just cant seem to understand something:

I have an hvx 200 and I want to try editing with FCP to make a short film.

When I go to import to get my clips I have a few folders (content>audio, video etc.) and when I go to video to import the things I want, they are MXF files. they also dont have any audio. Now, I know I am doing this incorrectly, but what is the right way to do it? Do I go to log and transfer?

I am watching a training video for FCP and the guy in the video has quicktime files when he is importing the footage onto FCP.

Do I need to have quicktime footage when I am importing or does it matter?

    Please help!

    Thanks in advance,

    Nader

YES, it is as simple as that.

Yes you have to have QT files for FCP. There is P2 workflow info all over the place a simple google of P2 workflow for FCP will give you a ton of info.
