Set it to DVCPRO HD REC and tapeless mode.
Set my HVX200 to 720/24P and 1394 control BOTH. Firewire connected. Push the REC button in my camera, the FS100 screen changes from the home screen into a newone but before I can reed this new screen the home screen apears again with the word on top: STOP.
So, what I want to say is that Im not capabile to record anything into the fs100. The manual doesnSergio Deustua replied 19 years, 3 months ago 3 Members · 7 Replies -

January 17, 2007 at 1:11 pmAn aclaration:
The camera is NTSC video standard, and the FS is PAl. Is this a problem when recording in HD? Can this be my problem?. If it is is a big problem. -

January 17, 2007 at 3:55 pmI don’t believe the HVX200 will send 24p through the firewire port only 60i or 30p. I think you have to record 24p or over/under cranked footage to the P2 card.

January 17, 2007 at 3:58 pmAlso I don’t believe the PAL version of the FS100 is going to work with the NTSC camera period.

January 17, 2007 at 4:01 pmLooks like you are right.
I find quite hard to beleave that a digital suport like this is is not prepared to work with any frame rate format. -

January 17, 2007 at 4:11 pmI’m not sure if they crippled this feature by design or if it’s just a limitation of firewire. You could use the 24pA mode I believe and let the camera to the pull down BUT your PAL firestore is still not going to work with the camera. There is a company working on a hard drive that will attach to the P2 slot which should do the trick…if it ever gets released.

January 17, 2007 at 5:31 pmThe problem is the PAL vs. NTSC units; the FireStore is sold specifically in a PAL-compatible version and an NTSC-compatible version, you have to use the right one with your camera.
As for the firewire stream: on the US/NTSC version the firewire stream is always 60p (for 720) or 60i (for 1080/480). On the PAL version the firewire stream is always 50p (for 720) or 50i (for 1080/576). Any other frame rate gets embedded within the 50p or 50i data stream, so 720/25p is transported through firewire as 720/50p with each frame being rendered twice.
