    An aclaration:
The camera is NTSC video standard, and the FS is PAl. Is this a problem when recording in HD? Can this be my problem?. If it is is a big problem.

I don’t believe the HVX200 will send 24p through the firewire port only 60i or 30p. I think you have to record 24p or over/under cranked footage to the P2 card.

Also I don’t believe the PAL version of the FS100 is going to work with the NTSC camera period.

    Looks like you are right.
I find quite hard to beleave that a digital suport like this is is not prepared to work with any frame rate format.

I’m not sure if they crippled this feature by design or if it’s just a limitation of firewire. You could use the 24pA mode I believe and let the camera to the pull down BUT your PAL firestore is still not going to work with the camera. There is a company working on a hard drive that will attach to the P2 slot which should do the trick…if it ever gets released.

The problem is the PAL vs. NTSC units; the FireStore is sold specifically in a PAL-compatible version and an NTSC-compatible version, you have to use the right one with your camera.

As for the firewire stream: on the US/NTSC version the firewire stream is always 60p (for 720) or 60i (for 1080/480). On the PAL version the firewire stream is always 50p (for 720) or 50i (for 1080/576). Any other frame rate gets embedded within the 50p or 50i data stream, so 720/25p is transported through firewire as 720/50p with each frame being rendered twice.
