    Hello,

I installed Snow Leopard on my iMac 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
After the install my USB ports were downgraded to USB 1.1 being that my TV dongle did not work anymore as it needs a USB 2 port.

I have been unable to resolve the issue.

    Anybody got a clue?

    Thanks in advance.

That sounds fishy to me. what if you put a USB 2.0 HUB in between? It should handle the translation. Does it work then?

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for replying.

Unfortunately it does not work with the USB 2.0 hub.
I found a strange solution on a website where they advise to put the USB dongle in the oven??? at a non destructive temperature.

I will give it a go and let you know the endresult.

    Best,

So in this case, it almost sounds like a driver issue (I don’t think heating anything is a good idea).
If it was a USB 1.1/2.0 issue, the HUB would have resolved it. So it’s more likely, you are somehow missing a kext. If you put the thing on a working machine, see which kext loads (kextstat) and then see if you are missing it in /System/Library/Extensions. Maybe you have something that is old and is grabbing the thing. It could be a leftover from 10.5

It finally worked when applying two options.
    1. I removed the USB extension cable
    2. I heated up the device for a while in the oven

    Mysteriously it works again 🙂
