snapping and unsplit

Delete the right-side event and drag the edge of the left-side event to reach the same length at the right side was. You will have one long event again.

[Glenn Rotar] “Also the feature “snapping” seems to be somehow turned off. When I drag and touch to pieces of video it used to snap together like magnets do, but now they too easily overlap or are not joined. I would like to re-engage the snapping feature.”

The first icon on the toolbar after Undo/Redo is Enable Snapping. Toggle it on by clicking it or use F8 to turn it on and off.

Both of those work fine.
I thought I had read a year or so ago that press “S” to split and press “?” for an unsplit or a rejoin.
Is there such a command?

No, there is no un-split command. There are scripts that will unsplit but all they do is delete the right side event and extend the edge of the left event like you did.
