  • Snapping a layer to another layer’s position in 3D space

    Hi,

Fairly often I run across the need to move one layer in my composition to the exact point in 3D space that another layer occupies at frame 0. Right now, I just painstakingly copy all the position parameters, one at a time, and that works fine. But seeing as how I do this so often, I was wondering if there was a script that would just “snap” one layer to another in 3D space, matching the position of their relative anchor points?

You don’t even need a script. Just duplicate the layer you want the position from (CTRL-D). Then ALT-Drag the layer from the Project Bin and drop it on the layer you just duplicated in the comp. Done.

D’oh! of course. I use that technique all the time, but it never crossed my mind, etc etc.

Thanks so much, Joe. Love that tip.
