Smoothing out abrupt zooming footage
I’ve searched for how to do this everywhere I could, with no luck.
Basically, I have taken some shots (from a rock-solid tripod) pulling a zoom on a zoom lens with my hand. This shots are not looking good now, the speed of zoom isn’t even, there is some abruptness to the image.
The question is, how can I smooth out this zooming shots? Does current Resolve capabilities allow to do such tasks?
Any help would be appreciated.Andrew.

try stabilize with only zoom option…

I’ve already tried this. The main purpose of this action is to stabilize, so It’s just eliminates any zooming it the shot.
For now I think I need to use After Effects for such task. -
If you can, maybe try mocha? I’ve had some pretty good results with that for handheld moving shots. Zooms I hear are pretty good too.

Are you saying you want to slow the zoom down…or stabilize the shot during the zoom? (I’m reading you want to slow the zoom down)

I other words I need to make the speed of zoom constant (average) not variable.

You may try doing what has been suggested in an earlier response and stabilize using zoom analysys only in one of the nodes but try playing with the “smooth” setting and maybe in a separate node only pan and tilt setting with different strength of stabilization and smooth applied.

In addition to zoom stabilizing, I’ve found that slowing the footage down during the zoom makes the zoom look much much smoother. If you can do a slo-mo over the zoom, that will help.
