I’m working on a high def project but that info may even be unneccesary because this issue remains true for me even in an SD enviorment. For some reason I cannot get beautifully smooth gradients in AE. I’ve tried everything I can think of. No matter how I create the gradient, be it Illustrator, Photoshop, DA Gradient, or any of the AE gradient tools, I cannot make one that doesn’t posterize into an ugly mess. And yes even when I change the project settings to 16bit nothing it still looks he same. I need some advice on this. I dont know if it is just specific colors or what.

    Thanks,

    Aaron

Maybe your monitor/ graphics card simply dithers them, because its color depth isn’t great enough?! This should not be releated to AE itself (well not in 16 bpc).

I create mine in PS and add about 2% noise. Gets rid of the banding for me.
