  • smooth cam – fcp 7 ugrade issue?

    Hello, any suggested are appreciated:

I have lots of experience with ‘smooth cam’ and have used it very successfully over the years, but I just upgraded to FCP 7 and the output looks terrible – extremely shakey video that looked fine in fcp 6. It looks like it has field order issues.

I tried re-rendering the mtdf file – that didn’t work

I tried changing field order – that didn’t work

    I tried de-interlace – that didn’t work.

    any suggestions?

Do you have any speed changes on the clips? We had this problem with a clip and we just removed the speed changes, re-rendered and it was fine, then added the speed changes back and it worked fine.

The other option is to delete the analysis file and let it re-analyze the clip, but that would be a nightmare.

no speed changes,, I guess I’m the only one with this problem. I also re-analyzed the clip – didn’t work..

I’m also having this problem. Cutting ProRes 4:2:2 HQ Progressiv Material. I tried several export codecs… but hopeless.

Maybe a problem with Quicktime ?
    I have Player 10.0 installed.

    Someone any idea ?

    Hello again,

here is a workflow to fix the problem:
    – Export the Clips (before smooth cam)
    – Reimport it in the timeline
    – Smooth Cam

I used MPEG Streamclip to get the ProRes Files from a JVC Everio Camera (TOD-Files). It seams that Final Cut isn’t 100% compatibel with this.
