I want to create a sort of smoky wispy effect in a video as a transition. basically, what im trying to figure out how to do is take one object, and have it turn into a smoke or liquid, before turning into another object.

i already know several methods of creating smoke/water etc, but i cant seem to find a good, visually seamless way of having the smoke or water re-solidify at the other end as something else.

any advice would be appreciated or perhaps a tutorial i could look at.

    Hi, John…

Don’t know if this is what you’re looking for, but here’s a tutorial that may give you some ideas:

I took a look at that, and that’s not quite what I’m looking to be able to do, its got the transition part, but its missing the part were the particles reform into something else after it breaks away

Just an idea, but you could try doing the same smokey fade away and just precomping and time reversing it for the second half. So the particles move into place to form the new object.
