Smoke effect using Trapcode Particular?
I’m trying to create a smoke effect using Trapcode Particular. Was told its the best out there for this type of effect, but I’m new to the plugin. I’m trying to create a rolling like smoke effect that rolls out from underneath an object slamming into the ground. I have already created everything else in Cinema 4D just need to add the smoke element. Below is an example similar to what I am trying to create – scroll to 00:26:

Yes particular is the way to go. Some parameters would be:
Particle emitter from a point. Emit a few hundred then turn it off.
Velocity is pretty fast.
Change the opacity over life ramp from none to on about halfway thru(Life of particle about 1 sec or less)
Opacity of the particles should be down. Size is up. I think the type of particle would be good as a cloudlet, maybe faded sphere.
In the physics settings, I’d add some turbulence under the air settings. Also add some air resistance for realism.Those settings should get you somewhere close.
