Activity Forums Sony Cameras .smi

I shot an event on the weekend and one of my early clips ended up being listed as shot 44 and a .SMI file.

I read in the manual that it is something to do with file length, it was a 27 minute clip.

Does this mean anything? will it effect anything? is there anything i need to be concerned about? The clip seems fine in the browser….

    thanks for any advice.

[anthony Faulkner] “will it effect anything?”

Not Really. Your 27 min. clip has been chopped into 4 Gbyte pieces because the solid state recording
cards are formatted in FAT 32 binary, which is the format that can be read by both Mac and Windows machines. FAT 32 can only record files that are a maximum of 4Gbytes in size.

[anthony Faulkner] “will it effect anything?”

No. Both the Clip Browser, Sony Transfer Tool and the Sony Log and Transfer Tool know how to combine the pieces into one clip again.

[anthony Faulkner] “is there anything i need to be concerned about?”

No, not at all. The .SMI function is normal.
