Well… add my name to the list of people unimpressed with BMD lately.

My Smart View HD arrived Friday with the BMD logo screen printed upside down. That should have been an omen…

Four hours in the road case (which is completely open to air flow) and the panel shuts down. The indicator lights on the network connections and power remain lit but the panel is dark and the utility can’t speak with it.

Guess which booth I’ll be stopping by first at NAB tomorrow…

It really happened to me. On the second day of use the monitor did not.
I tested with Fote Hiperdeck the studio that has the same specification and nothing.
I expect your solution to apply here too.

I returned 2 SmartView Duos after one monitor each time was dead suddenly…

I received a warranty replacement, and now the body color is a bit darker, but the panel is running for now. My guess is, that these monitors are very delicate with handling… don’t think are made for road use…

    Thanks/danke Gunther.

Mine was installed in my road case and left on in my shop. Hadn’t even gone out yet. Perhaps I SHOULD buy shock cases for the road production kit though, now that you mention it.

Appreciate the input, folks. Just after the wait and Bob Zelin’s review, I guess I was pretty excited to see it in person (it IS sexy beast!) And let down when it failed, more so because it failed almost immediately. That doesn’t inspire confidence…

Ooops… Sorry for misspelling your name, Gunter.
