smart rendering – question to John
…I read a couple of days ago about the smart-rendering capability of Vegas 8 pro with mpeg files… is it really true ? .. this is something that has been on my wish list of Vegas; no recompression (except on transitions and FX) means no loss of quality…
I’m asking because I have videoredo for this great feature (and it is an excelent product)…
On the other side, I’ve noticed this smart rendering capability on Vegas with AVI files, but, altough “no recompression required” is displayed on my preview, it is somewhat slow (the “render”) compared to videoredo with mpegs….

Yes. I think it was added in Vegas 7. The key to getting it to work is to render to the same MPEG-2 specs as the source media.
