  • Smart Rendering in Vegas 9.0c and 9.0d

    Hello,

I’ve been working with my AVCHD clips from my Canon HF100 in Vegas 9.0c. I was experimenting with smart rendering so that I could keep as much of the original video quality as I could. Smart rendering worked fine until I added a transition between two clips. In this case the first clip would not re-encode until the transition. The transition would be encoded, but then the rest of the second clip would also be re-encoded. I thought that after upgrading to 9.0d, I could try this again and only have my transition encoded. My problem now is that 9.0d doesn’t want to use smart rendering on any of my clips. I can add just a clip to the timeline and ‘render as’, but the whole thing is re-encoded. I did make sure smart encoding was enabled in the program preferences. I’m wondering if anyone has had success in any of the Vegas versions for using smart rendering on transitions only between two avchd clips.

BTW, I am rendering as Sony AVCHD 1920×1080 60i in both 9.0c and 9.0d.

Sorry if this is wordy, and thank you for the help,
    Ryan

Try checking the ,Options, Preferences, Enable no-recompress long_GOP rendering. It may have gotton unchecked by default with the upgrade. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Hello. I just upgraded from 9.0c to 9.0d. I had been utilizing smart rendering with AVCHD in 9.0c. I also note that it now renders each frame in 9.0d. I also made sure that the preferences/options were set properly. Perhaps they made a change do with the fact that the audio and video would fall out of sync in rendering longer AVCHD clips to the same format. Anyway, I agree that it would be nice if this would work properly.
