first i like to say thank you to the creators of creative cow and to tom? who responded to my last inquiry. you guys are a life savior. any i recently moved to shanghai and am doing video production here. the standard format is avi as opposed to Quick time. when i’ve exported using qt conversion and selected avi the resolution has been nasty. every thing comes out very pixelated. so my question is how can i export qt quality without having a file 712mb or how can i export to a high quality avi file. thanks again. ukachi

    Hi ukachi,
You should have a look to the Sheer codec that now support AVI. High quality 8/10b RGB and YCrCb 422 and 444 with alpha chanel. Loosseless and half the size of the Apple codecs.

so i went to the flip4 mac site, and apologize for being so technically challenged, but wasn’t sure what program i really needed. it looked like it was the wmv program. but i guess i’m not sure what exactly i’m doing. i need a different codec that’s readable to avi???

Your right Dave, there are some risks in using third part codecs. But in this case I think the people of Bit-Jazz are making a very good job.
Anyway the thing that push me to use Sheer is that you can export8/10B Unc YCrCb with alpha codec so you can avoid color issues.
Ukachi, you can find more information in the BitJazz web site. But you can have a look to the article of Solorio.
    Cheers,
    Rafael
