small gaps between clips
Hi,
I’m new in Sony Vegas. I made movie from my holiday in Nepal which I created by Canon A650 camera. I had approximately 500 small mpeg clips (encoded with MJpeg compression). My problem is that in output video there is sometimes one black frame between scenes (between clips). If I zoom in the timeline in Vegas, I can see the small gap between clips. But I have to zoom it very much in, to see the gap. I was trying to work with Adobe Premiere before that and clips there attached each other. There was no blank frames in output video. Why the Vegas doesn’t attache clips each other? Is there any way how to repair my project – how to shrink it and fix the small gaps between clips? I mean how to do it automatically. Not to zoom in each transition and check if there is the gap. I also would like to know what to do next time to avoid this in the future.

Very common problem that can be solved after the fact with Mr. Troxel’s Excalibur scripts from jetdv.com (there’s a Gap function that works nicely).
Now, as to avoiding it in the first place, Snapping should be toggled on in Vegas (button on the bar or just press F8 to toggle it on and off) by default and is a common feature in all editing apps (like you discovered in Premiere).
This will at least make it easier, but there are still many situations where you’ll accidentally get a gap anyhow and this is especially easy to do if the frame rate of your project does not match your clips. Therefore, I’d recommend matching your project settings to your primary footage: File > Properties and then click the Match Media Settings button (looks like a folder icon) and then selecting one the files from your camera.
