Small-File-Size Export of 25-Minute Red Scarlet Footage

January 27, 2014 at 1:52 pmI’m currently trying to export high quality screeners online for festivals. 1GB to 2GB would be great. The film was shot on the Red Scarlet
I’ve tried with MP4 at 1 GB which was fine but in a scene with TV white noise, the background became pixelated. I found out that MP4 couldn’t support it.
H264 was fine at 5GB but the quality was really poor once I reduced the size to 1GB.
Any suggestions for exporting? Detailed export settings would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Help us to help you…
What’s the source format, and desired delivery format? Such as 1080p24 source, delivering as 720p24 online.
What is the length of the project?
Difficult to make encoding suggestions when we don’t know what format and length.
Thanks

Well… There’s your problem. If you need high quality you’ll need more bitrate and more bitrate means it will take more space. The new H265 codec would be a pretty good choice but it isn’t in Adobe CC yet.
