i’m trying to slow down some footage in ae 6.5 that has a smooth transition but it’s not really working for me. i’m using time remapping but i don’t even know if this is the right tool to use since i’ve never had to do this before. any suggestions? i’d greatly appreciate it. thanks.

If all your trying to do is make the footage slower time remap is your tool of choice. Go to Time> layer> enable time remapping, or ALT+CTRL+T (I think) then expand your layer via the swirl down triangle. go to time remap and you should see two keyframes. Now go to Composition settings and change the composition time to the desired length. Now drag the tail of your footage to the end of teh comp, or select your footage hit “end” then hit ctrl+] or alt+] (don’t quite remember) now just drag the second key frame from time remap to the end of your comp and it will stretch out the time. It’s pretty simple once you begin to use it, however time remap can be somewhat intimidating at first.

You could try the stretch setting. In your timeline window near the bottom there are some arrows to the left of the slider that resizes the timeline (version6.5). If you click the arrows you get four columns In, Out, Duration, Stretch. Just up the stretch value but typing in a number more than 100% or put your mouse over the number and click and drag to the right to increase.
